I was with my girlfriend in Pas Du Loup hotel. The girl receptionist was wonderful. She helped us very well. It was our first time in The French alps. Congratulations as well for Antoine at the restaurant, very professional and helpful! Thank you and see you soon!
I really don't understand some of the negative reviews about this hotel, they offer a great deal that for me surpasses what you pay for.We went on a school ski trip, so we arrived as a big group - however all the check in details had been pre done so when we arrived it was simply a matter of them handing out envelopes with our room keys in, so we were all done in a couple of minutes. We had booked a room for 5 people and whilst we could all sleep in there, with only one cupboard, there was absolutely no room for us to put all of our stuff, so we asked if there was any chance we could have an additional room, the lady at reception explained that as it was a Saturday night they had full occupancy so there was nothing they could do, however on Sunday it shouldn't be a problem, so the next night we were given an additional room 2 doors down. I thought this was absolutely fantastic customer service, above and beyond what they needed to do - they could have simply said "no". The food is buffet style and there is plenty of choice to keep everyone happy, and they even generously supplied food containers and baguette bags so that you could make yourself a picnic to take away if you wanted to stay on the slopes all day - or in our case something for lunch for waiting around at the airport. Their meat stews and desserts were exceptionally good. The bar area has a couple of machines where you can help yourselves to hot drinks and cold soft drinks during the day and into the evening and a barman on hand should you want something stronger. However you are not allowed in the bar area with ski boots, so if they want a tip for the future they really should look into either changing their policy on this or building a little drinks station on the terrace for the convenience of the guests who like to stop off for a few minutes during the day.The staff were all very pleasant and did everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable and with a facility to ski in and ski out I'd highly recommend people stay here for a very affordable ski holiday (the only time I put my hand in my pocket all week was to buy a few snacks from the supermarket)As an aside, if you want to rent skis - the Skiset shop in the arcade was brilliant, the skis were good and they gave me boots which for the first time didn't give me any pain in my feet, my son broke a pole and it was no problem - we wanted to rent out snowscoots and they were not only cheaper than the other outlets, they gave us a 20% discount for already being customers, but on one day the weather was so bad that we returned them after one run and explained that it was too dangerous for us to use them so they said we could just take them out on another day for free as we'd already paid for that session, again some fantastic customer service.
The good bit: Location... this hotel is in the perfect location. Great for a base camp and linked to everything you need. Ski hire next door and some really nice restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Wasn't allowed to check in until after 16:00 but that wasn't a problem as it gave us a chance to explore the area. When we finally got into the room, it was nice and clean but a little 'compact' for a couple on a ski holiday with 2 cases and the free mini bar contained a can of Pepsi and a bottle of water. Oh and we only had 1 towel in the bathroom so I hunted the halls and had one off the trolly. Breakfast was good with enough selection of nice food.Unfortunately... Now the bad parts. Parking, We arrived Saturday around lunchtime and couldn't get anywhere close to the hotel. Literally had to park the other side of Isola 2000 and walk with cases for about 20-25 minutes. The area around the hotel is a bit chaotic to put it nicely.Check in took nearly 30 minutes as the poor girl on reception was working alone but when we eventually got into our room we just wanted to grab a shower and freshen up (with our 1 towel)... Nope. No hot water! Another 20 minute wait at reception, was told it would be back on in an hour. One hour later, still no hot water. Went out for dinner un-showered after a day of traveling, got back to the room around 21:00... still no hot water. Another walk back to reception, was told it would be back on in another hour with no explanation about why it was off. Guess what... it never came back on.Up until 23:00 that night, No hot water. We went to bed feeling dirty and really disappointed. Woke the next morning, tested the water... ice cold. After another trip to reception, was actually told it was the whole hotel and that it would be back on that day as the boiler had 'tripped out' but been reset. So off we went for a days skiing. At 16:00 came back to the hotel for a nice hot shower... Yep you've guest it. No hot water.Enough was enough... I asked to speak to the manageress who basically just laughed at me and told me it was the whole hotel and there was nothing she could do. I had better customer service and an apology from the Maintenance guy who was very apologetic. The Manageress just stood outside smoking whilst there was a queue at reception. When she returned I asked to change rooms as another english guy told me he had slightly warm water on the first floor. We where moved rooms but the water was still too cold to wash or shower until the next morning. So basically 2 days without a shower. Not great for a ski resort. Not great that they couldn't arrange something with a neighbouring hotel. There were a lot of unhappy guests, but at least we had a nice scenic walk back to the car to look forward to.Nice and clean hotel. Great location, just a shame the trip was spoilt because we couldn't actually wash and feel clean. The 'wet wipe shower' brought back the Glasto memories!I can accept things like this happen but it shouldn't take 2 days to fix hot water. We checked out and took the long walk back to the car feeling disappointed (but clean). We will be back in Isola 2000 next year as the resort is fantastic for skiing but not at this hotel.
Pas du Loup Isola 2000Pas du Loup = Fawlty Towers? Let’s make it a short story.. First, as a non French speaking, it was impossible for me to do the booking on internet so I had to call the booking. Although it took almost four (4) weeks to do a simple booking of four rooms for a weekend! And when I later received my telephone bill I saw that Soleil Vacance have charged me (!) for calling them to make the booking!!Not even at Fawlty towers. When we left, myfriend forgotten his toilet bag. In four weeks the hotel didn’t succeed in helping us with this. They promised to send it with bus, then with Le Poste but nothing happens. So at last I had to visit the hotel again to pick it up! Just been there for week end trip with some friend. The staff is very nice, cozy hotel, it's not the newest hotel but clean. Close to the main attraction "ski". Defenitively recommand. Very good quality for the price. We got quite good time there. Will come back!
